Refunds & Cancellation
Last updated 8 September 2026.
Short version: you can cancel whenever you like, you keep what you paid for until the period ends, and we do not bill you again after that. Nothing is charged without a subscription you started yourself.
Before you pay anything
Outlay has a free plan you can use for as long as you like, and a fourteen-day trial of the top tier that needs no card. Nothing is charged when a trial ends — the workspace simply returns to the free plan until someone chooses to subscribe.
How billing works
- Paid plans are billed in advance, monthly or yearly, and renew automatically until cancelled.
- Business plans are charged per person. Adding someone mid-cycle is charged for the rest of that cycle.
- Your bank notifies you before each automatic debit, as the Reserve Bank of India requires.
Cancelling
Cancel from Settings → Plan & Billing, or email us and we will do it. There is no cancellation fee and no notice period.
When you cancel, the plan stays active until the end of the period you have already paid for. After that the workspace moves to the free plan. Your receipts are not deleted by cancelling — you keep access to the ledger and to export, within the free plan's limits.
Refunds
- First payment on a yearly plan. If you tell us within 7 days of the first yearly charge that you do not want it, we refund it in full.
- Charged by mistake. If we bill you after a cancellation, bill you twice, or bill the wrong amount, we refund the difference in full. Tell us and we will fix it — and if we find it first, we will fix it without being asked.
- Part-used periods. We do not refund the unused part of a month or year that is already running. You keep the plan until the period ends.
- Seats removed mid-cycle. Not refunded for that cycle; the following bill is smaller.
Outside those cases, write to us anyway. If something has genuinely gone wrong we would rather sort it out than stand on a policy.
How a refund is paid
Refunds go back to the method that paid, through our payment provider. Once we approve one it usually reaches you in 5–7 working days, depending on your bank. We cannot send a refund anywhere other than the original method.
Taxes already paid to the government are refunded along with the amount they were charged on.
If a payment fails
We retry a failed payment for a few days and email you about it. If it keeps failing the workspace moves to the free plan rather than being closed — your data stays where it is, and paying resumes the plan.
Asking for a refund
Email support@outlay.site from the address on the account, with the payment date and amount. We reply within two working days and tell you either way.
