Configuring Spend Limits

Granular control over corporate spending is the key to preventing budget overruns. Outlay allows you to set complex spending rules on any issued card.

Available Limits

  • Per-Transaction Limit

The maximum amount that can be charged in a single swipe. Useful for preventing employees from buying expensive equipment on travel cards.

  • Velocity Limits (Daily/Weekly/Monthly)

Cap the total spend over a specific time period. For example, a food delivery card can be restricted to ₹2,000 per day.

  • Merchant Category Restrictions (MCC)

Block or allow specific categories of merchants. You can ensure a card can only be used at Gas Stations and Hotels, immediately declining any attempted transactions at retail electronics stores.

Real-time Declines

If a transaction is attempted that violates a spend limit, it is declined at the terminal in milliseconds. The employee instantly receives an SMS explaining exactly why the card was declined (e.g., "Transaction declined: Exceeds daily limit of ₹2,000").
