WhatsApp Integration
For on-the-go expenses like client lunches or taxi rides, the Outlay WhatsApp bot is the fastest way to get your receipt into the system. Just snap a photo and send it on WhatsApp.
Registering your Number
Before the bot can accept your receipts, you must link your mobile number to your user account to ensure security.
Add your Number
Go to Settings > Profile and enter your WhatsApp-enabled phone number. Include the country code (e.g., +91).
Verify via OTP
You will receive an OTP via SMS. Enter it in the dashboard to verify ownership of the number.
Save the Bot Contact
Save the official Outlay Bot number (+91 800-000-0000) to your phone contacts as "Outlay Expenses".
Using the Bot
Using the bot is completely natural. You do not need to use specific commands or syntax.
- Snap a photo: Send a photo of the receipt to the bot.
- Forward a PDF: If a vendor sends you a PDF on WhatsApp, just forward it to the bot.
- Add Context: Send a follow-up message like "Client lunch with Acme Corp" and the AI will automatically attach that text as the expense description/memo.
Instant Feedback
The bot will reply within 5 seconds with a summary: "✅ Logged ₹4,500 at Smoke House Deli. Sent to approval queue."
