Tally Prime Export
Outlay is designed to work alongside your existing accounting software, not replace it. Our most popular feature is the one-click export to Tally XML format.
Generating the XML
Instead of making your accountant manually enter hundreds of Journal Entries at the end of the month, Outlay generates a strictly formatted Tally XML file.
Filter your Expenses
Go to Expenses in the sidebar. Select your desired date range (e.g., Last Month) and filter the status to Approved.
Map Ledgers (First time only)
If you haven't done so, Outlay will prompt you to map your Outlay Expense Categories (e.g., "Travel") to your specific Tally Ledger Names (e.g., "Conveyance A/C").
Download XML
Click Export and select Tally XML. The file will download instantly.
Importing into Tally Prime
Once you have the XML file, importing it takes 10 seconds:
- Open your company in Tally Prime.
- Press
Alt + O(Import) from the top menu. - Select Transactions.
- Browse to the XML file you downloaded and hit Enter.
Double-entry guaranteed
Outlay formats the XML as full double-entry accounting vouchers, including the CGST/SGST ledger debits and the Vendor/Bank credits.
